Terry Douglas

Mr. Douglas, an associate consultant with KappaWest, has divided his professional career between the US government and the private sector. He served as a senior executive in the Defense Department, responsible for strategic planning at the Pentagon. Earlier, as a senior operations officer with the Central Intelligence Agency, he served in Warsaw, Delhi, Beirut, and Berlin, focusing his energies against the threat posed by the Soviet Union and international terrorism, receiving several awards in the process. In Washington, he served on the Agency’s Counter-Intelligence Staff.

Following his departure from government, he became a Vice President for a mid-sized, high technology firm. There he developed a strategy to repackage the company’s capabilities – primarily sold at the time to the government – for the commercial sector as well. Later, he joined Alexis International, Inc. as a Vice President and was promoted to President following the award of a $100M fixed-priced, 3-year contract by the Saudi Ministry of Defense and Aviation.

As a private consultant and founder of TRD Associates, Inc., Mr. Douglas specializes in conducting international due-diligence assignments that investigate product diversion, counterfeiting and trade secret theft issues worldwide. His network is especially strong in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, as well as East and South Asia. He also supports market entry strategies with sensitive competitive intelligence.

As an Associate Director, he was responsible for the preparation of mobilization plans and the development and conduct in the Defense Department of comprehensive inter-agency war games. These games lasted from two to three days to half-day and full-day “table-top” sessions. Participants in these exercises included the very highest levels of the US Government, comparable to the most senior corporate levels in business. As a CIA officer, he became intimately familiar with the intelligence process, as well as the need to protect sensitive information from an enemy/competitor.

Mr. Douglas served as a First Lieutenant in the Strategic Air Command, USAF. He received Master of Arts degree in Russian Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, New York.
